Interstellar isotope ratios from mm-wave molecular absorption spectra
We have measured galactic λ3mm absorption spectra of HCO+, HCN, HNC, and CS toward compact extragalactic continuum sources in order to derive the isotopic abundance ratios 12C/13C, 14N/15N, 16O/18O, and 32S/34S in local diffuse clouds. For carbon, our data confirm recent results for the local ISM: we find 12C/13C = 59 ± 2. For nitrogen, we find 14N/15N = 237(−21,+27) consistent with the Solar v...
متن کاملMagnesium isotope ratios in Hyades stars
Using classical model atmospheres and an LTE analysis, Mg isotope ratios Mg:Mg:Mg are measured in 32 Hyades dwarfs covering 4000K ≤ Teff ≤ 5000K. We find no significant trend in any isotope ratio versus Teff and the mean isotope ratio is in excellent agreement with the solar value. We determine stellar parameters and Fe abundances for 56 Hyades dwarfs covering 4000K ≤ Teff ≤ 6200K. For stars wa...
متن کاملCalibration of isotope amount ratios by analysis of isotope mixtures.
The question as to what constitutes a fully calibrated isotope amount ratio measurement still remains a topic of active research. For years, the definitive calibration approach has been by means of synthetic mixtures of highly enriched isotopes with known chemical purity to give gravimetrically defined ratios. This article outlines the core concepts and assumptions of this method and illustrate...
